Facilitation emerged from many places one of which was in villages and communities across the world. This is where Lawrence Philbrook and the Institute of Cultural Affairs started, its work was a combination of bringing in new practices and reconnecting and sharing old practices from many cultures to help communities make their own decisions and to collaborate for change. While expanding to other sectors Larry has always maintained a percentage of his time working in communities as a way to stay grounded in his own values and mission. This session will be a time to share a few stories and explore the advantage to any facilitator to look for opportunities to practice and learn in their own local context.
